"How do those of you who are full-time or part-time RVers, having no fixed address and spending most of your time on the road, ensure that you are counted? Follow these simple steps to make sure the 2010 Census includes you.
In case you do have a home in which you live or sleep most of the time, fill that address in the form as your permanent residence. But if you spend equal or more amount of time on the road, you will be counted as living at the address of the RV park/campground you are currently at on the day of the Census."

Guard Your Identity:
"Most of us have a love-hate relationship with the Internet. We love having the ability to look things up quickly and easily. We love the way it allows us to stay connected with family and friends even when we are across the country!
What we don't like is the threat of viruses or the thought of criminals using spyware to gain access to our personal files and confidential information.
Since people with good credit are often targets of identity theft and credit fraud, the Escapees Mail Service (and Escapees RV Club) shreds all its sensitive mail. Poor Burned Trooper, is such a trooper!
"TROOPER is a beautiful little blue Pit Bull with an ugly past. Just two months ago, he faced horrible abuse at the hands of a human. He was cruelly and deliberately set on fire after being doused with rubbing alcohol. The pain the little guy must have endured is unthinkable. His eyes were affected and it was unclear if he would have any sight." More at: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/16021231

Sick Stray Cats.
Ray trapped a male cat that looked really beat up and scrawny. I am glad we got him, as he probably hasn't been vaccinated and is carrying Feline Leukemia, or FIV, both deadly diseases, and spreading it to the neighborhood cats.
I wish folks would keep their cats contained, as I do, as they kill birds, and lizards, get beat up by other cats or dogs, run over, or die a slow horrible death from diseases.
I let the Animal Control Officer take him in our trap, as she said that there are several people trapping the stray cats in our area. To avoid their escaping while being transferred onto the truck, the Officer is taking them in the traps, and returning the empty traps the next day.
I didn't get to Conroe, as planned, but a lovely 'windows open' day.

Healthy Diet Joke. Veggies
“In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition.
And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.
Then Satan created HMOs.”

Ray did some more painting on the new fence boards this morning. He hasn’t had time to work here for a while, so we are behind on that.
As I had put my back out wrestling with a 40 lb box of cat litter, Jay and I went into our little town. It didn't take the chiropractor long to find the offending part of my spine and snap it back into position. But first, while waiting for my appointment, we moved some more stuff around in the RVPort, and loaded more yard sale clothes into the van. I also put a different cord on my PC, and voila, it works now, thank goodness. I get aggravated at the keyboard on my laptop, and it doesn't have all my bits and pieces working from it, like my camera and printer.
As I have to take Jay into the next town, Conroe, tomorrow, there wasn’t any sense in making a trip to drop the clothes off there today.

Health Care Reform Will Impact Long-Term Care.
CLASS Act:
Creates a voluntary payroll deduction plan for long-term care. Employees who pay into the program for at least five years will be entitled to a daily cash benefit of at least $50 that they can use for long-term care at home or in a community-based setting. Medicaid beneficiaries in nursing homes would retain 5 percent of their cash benefit; and Medicaid beneficiaries receiving home and community-based services would keep 50 percent.
The legislation was sponsored and championed by the late Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) during the last several years of his life.
“The 49 million people who care for older family members were hidden in plain sight, as usual, quietly shouldering a burden that so often takes a heavy toll on their finances and their physical and emotional well-being.
Many of them -- I know a few -- are opposed to the new health care law, even though it includes one of the most important steps ever taken to improve caregivers' lot, especially those of the middle-class persuasion. Of course, hardly any of them are aware of that.
The Community Living Assistance Services and Supports Act, otherwise known as CLASS, provides for a national insurance program to help cover the cost of long-term care -- something 70 percent of people over 65 will need at some point along the way.
The premiums will be much lower than those for private plans, and you won't get screened out because you've already had some health problems. Once vested after five years, enrollees unable to care for themselves will be able to claim cash benefits for as long as needed.
In the last few days, I've conducted a poll of a dozen friends who have been closely following the health care reform debate. I wanted to find out how much they knew about CLASS.
Not one among them had even heard of it. It somehow seemed fitting that this major program, just like the caregivers themselves, was hidden in plain sight.”

“There's a sleeper in the new health reform law. It came in under the radar. Hardly anybody knows about it.
It's a new government entitlement program to cover long-term care. They're going to take the premiums (upwards of $150 per month) out of your paycheck automatically . . . unless you "opt out."
Finally, a program paying cash (maybe $75) per day, so people can get care at home instead of in a nursing home.
Opponents, like the California Congressman interviewed, think the new CLASS Act will become insolvent before long leaving participants in the lurch. Most people will opt out and those who stay in will be the ones most likely to claim benefits soonest.”

“Do This In Remembrance of Me”.
This was something that Jesus TOLD us to do, but do we do it?
“Do THIS in Remembrance of Me” - Passover/Christians
”Did you know that Jesus commanded Christians to celebrate the Passover? Most Christians do not know this, and therefore consider the Passover to be a Jewish feast that does not apply to them.
This command is actually read in most Christian churches in conjunction with the service of Communion (also known in many churches as “the Lord’s Supper” or “the Lord’s Table”) on the first Sunday of the month and in some churches every Sunday, but its meaning has been lost, hidden in PLAIN SIGHT for almost 2,000 years.
Let’s examine the context of Jesus’ words:
And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God." And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, "Take this and share it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes."
And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do THIS in remembrance of Me." And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the New Covenant in My blood.” - Luke 22:15-20 (NAS)
In obedience to the commandments of God for His people, Jesus and the disciples had faithfully celebrated the feast of Passover every year, (Ex.12:14) all their lives, each year giving thanks to God for the Passover lamb that they had just killed and by whose blood their ancestors had been saved from death back in Egypt. Every year on this special day, they reflected on how God had delivered His people from slavery in Egypt. Every year they ate special unleavened bread that was broken at an appointed moment in the meal, and they shared four cups of wine, each with a different blessing and significance.
The night in which Jesus was betrayed, (Luke 22:7-21) Jesus and His disciples were sharing the Passover meal according to the instructions in God’s Word just as they had done in years past, but Jesus said something that would forever change the way His disciples would celebrate it in the future. He told them the breaking of the special unleavened bread symbolized how His body was about to be broken on the cross for their sins. It was at this moment in the Passover meal that Jesus told His disciples to “do THIS in remembrance of Me.”

The History of the Passover.
Ex. 12:21-26. Each family was required to have its own lamb, not a bone of which was to be broken. Its blood was sprinkled upon the door-posts of the house and the family, assembled within, partook of its flesh with unleavened bread and bitter herbs, pilgrim-like, with staff in hand, ready for departure out of Egypt in the morning.
When that night the Divine sentence slew all of Egypt's first-borns, the first-borns of Israel were passed over or spared; hence the name--Passover. And this ceremony, as a reminder of the great blessing of the Lord upon Israel, was commanded to be observed yearly as a memorial of God's goodness and because it typed, or illustrated, a still greater mercy and blessing yet to come.
They are never to forget it – “remember this day on which you came out of Egypt” Moses says to the people, and so they repeat the meal as a central moment in their national and religious life, each year, until the meal is called the Passover, as well as the event which it remembers.
The Lamb of God, Jesus, the antitypical Passover Lamb, was slain nearly nineteen centuries ago on the exact anniversary of the killing of the typical lambs.

Now, in instituting the Lord's Supper, Jesus says, "Do this in remembrance of me." In other words, we are to remember and believe that Jesus is the Passover Lamb.
Why did the Angel of the Lord pass over the Israelite homes when he visited death and destruction upon Egypt? You need to remember that the Israelites were as sinful and as stubborn as the Egyptians. They worshiped other gods and refused to accept Moses as God's servant. So why did the Angel of the Lord pass over them? Because of the blood of the lamb. The lamb was sacrificed in their place and for their sin.
Jesus is the Passover Lamb. Because of His blood upon the cross God passes over our sin. He is the Lamb sacrificed in our place and for our sin. We are to remember, as John the Baptist puts it, that Jesus is "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).

Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” 14So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15where he stayed until the death of Herod.
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Easter or Passover: Which Is Christian?
Many believe that God's endorsement of Passover ended with Christ's death—and that He has since replaced it with the observance of Easter as a celebration of Christ's resurrection. But is that so?
You can check in nearly any Bible help or encyclopedia to verify several fundamental facts:______________________• Easter was never instituted by God.• Easter was never sanctioned by Jesus Christ.• Easter was never taught by Christ's apostles.• Easter was never observed by the early New Testament Church.
Very Important: “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not ADD to it nor TAKE AWAY from it“ Deut.12:32 .

“On April 4 of this year, a billion or more people who identify themselves as Christian will celebrate Easter. The week before, a far smaller number will observe Passover.
How do these two scenarios compare? On the one hand, we have a fun-filled Easter egg hunt, Easter bunnies galore and an Easter Sunday sunrise service.
On the other, a solemn Passover service that typically includes participants washing one another's feet and partaking of unleavened bread and wine.

Shining the light on Easter:
“Can Easter and Passover be compared and weighed in the balance? If so, could and would it have any effect on your life, your future?
Most Christians think that as long as a person celebrates Easter as honoring Christ's resurrection, God won't mind and we shouldn't care. But God does mind and we should care that He does.
Many sources are available that describe the origins, history and purpose of the Easter celebration. If you read them without checking what the Bible says about which religious festivals are acceptable to God, you could easily conclude that the writers and researchers know what they are writing about. Their analyses may seem well-grounded, even beyond questioning.
But question you must. If you follow human dogma that doesn't match Jesus' teachings, you're on religious quicksand without the lifeline of God's saving truth.

How Easter started:
“Nimrod killed his father and began sleeping with his mother, Ester, (AKA: Astarte, Eostre, Ostera, Eastreor and Ishtar). She had children by her son Nimrod, making Nimrod his own father and son, which was the beginning of the lie that God and son are one and the same. But the father and the son could never be identical.
Nimrod and his mother were worshipped by the people, and knowing that if they found out that she was bearing her son's children they would not respect her, she lied telling the people that the spirit was visiting her, giving her babies.
The people, being paganish, believed those lies thus establishing a holiday called Easter commemorating her birthday. They used the sign of the rabbit, which is an over-sexed animal; and eggs representing the first stage of the "embryo" chicken, were also used. “

Understanding Life.
“On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years."
The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?"
So God agreed......
On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years."
But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God. "You asked for it."
So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to feed and support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. “

And God agreed......
And God agreed......
On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."
The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"
And God agreed again......

Your Lost Pet?
Please Help Stop Class B Dealers from Selling Animals For Research:
This DOES concern you, as they could pick up your pet at any time.
Class B dealers collect animals, MISTREAT them, and sell them to research laboratories.
They get them from auctions, breeding farms, puppy mills, pounds, and even pick them up off the streets.
So your beloved lost pet could wind up in this horrible situation. Please keep them safe. Dogs should be in a fenced area, not chained to a tree, and cats should not roam around loose outside. (They kill birds anyway.)
Please sign and help put an end to this barbaric practice.

Sorry to get on my “Save The Animals” kick again, but it sickens and disgusts me to my core.
As Gandhi said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it's animals are treated.
Just hoping that others feel the same way, and will help stop this cruelty.

Jay went with his mother to the Medical Center, Houston, for her usual Thursday appointment since her liver transplant. So getting a transplant isn’t all there is to it. She also has to take anti-rejection medicine every day, which makes her feel ill. But that is better than the alternative.
This yard sale gig is taking up too much time, and I am just going to stick to consigning and donating from here on out!
I was washing and hanging clothes for the consignment shop, two racks full, then clearing out the back of the RVport of a lot of the empty boxes, for most of the day.

Antioxidants & Cancer. Packing & Sorting.
What are antioxidants, and what do they have to do with cancer?
“The body seems to use certain nutrients in vegetables and fruits to protect against damage to tissues that happens constantly as a result of normal metabolism (oxidation).
Because such damage is linked with increased cancer risk, the so-called antioxidant nutrients are thought to protect against cancer. Antioxidants include vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids, and many other phytochemicals (chemicals from plants).
Studies suggest that people who eat more vegetables and fruits, which are rich sources of antioxidants, may have a lower risk for some types of cancer. To reduce cancer risk, the best advice at present is to get your antioxidants through food sources, rather than supplements. “
Does beta-carotene reduce cancer risk?
“Beta-carotene, an antioxidant chemically related to vitamin A, is found in vegetables and fruits, and eating vegetables and fruits is linked with a reduced risk of cancer.”
From: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/PED/content/PED_3_2X_Common_Questions_About_Diet_and_Cancer.as
Despite some seemingly conflicting results, considerable laboratory and animal research suggests that antioxidants may help prevent the cellular damage caused by free radicals that is associated with cancer, and that antioxidants may therefore slow, and possibly even stop, the development of cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute.

Jay and folded up two more long clothes poles full of clothes, packed them in boxes, took the poles down and stored them. All the hangers are stored in boxes too. We sorted out the best articles, as we are going to take them to a consignment shop.
We took another van load of boxes to the Assistance League, and three boxes and a book case to St. Marks. We looked at three thrift shops wares, but all I bought were sheets with butterflys on them. I have butterflys on my bedroom walls! We ate at What-a-Burger.
I have already started washing the clothes to go to the 2nd Debut Consignment Shop. They have to be clean, and on hangers. They are not grubby, but the pine tree pollen is on everything.
For the first time in over a week, I could get both cars in the RVport today!

MH Driving. Own RV Park?
Here are seven tips to help improve you improve your motorhome driving skills.
1. Know where your pivot point is and what it means. The pivot point is defined as the fixed point on a vehicle at which the vehicle rotates around in a turn. On a two-axle vehicle it is the center of the rear axle. This means that if an object, for example a tree, is located at the center of the rear axle or behind, you can turn toward the object and not hit it. If the object is ahead of the pivot point and you turn toward it, you will hit it.

Jay and I hooked up the used 12v. color TV to an antenna and converter box, but without the TV remote which would have had the ‘Menu’ on it, we couldn’t get to ‘set up’ or show channel 3, which is what we needed to make the converter box work. I had until today to return it, so we did. I’d be better off buying a new one! So I returned it.
We put some of yard sale stuff back in the storeroom attic. Mostly really expensive ‘stuff’ that I didn’t want to donate, as I can eBay it. We folded up 7 of the 8 tables in the RVport, so we are gradually making progress. I was even able to park the van in there when we returned from the next town.
Again we loaded the van to gills, and took most of it to the Angelic Thrift shop for their church, but we only had three boxes ready to go to the Assistance League. We looked around in both thrift shops but nothing caught our eyes.
Sunny in the mid 70’s, no wind, and another lovely day.

Edna Bay Resident’s Comment.
Here, down in the lower 48, we don’t realize the impact that a wrong decision could make or break a small hard working community in Alaska. These Americans live off the land, and this would destroy them.
Roger DiPaolo has left a new comment on my post "Sealaska. End of An Age.":
“I am only one individual, but please take a moment to consider my side of this issue, as what happens soon in Congress will have a tremendous impact on my future – a future that I have worked just as hard to build as any American has. I had to put myself through college while working full-time and earn every penny I’ve ever made through hard work, and the sum of my life’s savings is invested in my home in Edna Bay, the same home I hope to live in to my last day.
“If Sealaska is allowed to take ownership of the land they desire here on Kosciusko Island our lives here in Edna Bay will change in many negative ways. As you know we are a very remote community, and depend on subsistence hunting and gathering as much or more than any community in Alaska. We require an ample population of game animals for food, and with a huge amount of their habitat potentially becoming unlivable for them if this deal goes through it is uncertain if we will have sufficient game to survive on.
“The State of Alaska created the modern community of Edna Bay by laying out the boundaries of our lots and our town in a far-flung island wilderness for the purpose of attracting hard working Americans to live in a community that would by necessity require the natural resources of the surrounding National Forest for their survival.
“I humbly request that Senator Murkowski withdraw her support of S.881 and immediately go to work on a different bill that would compensate Sealaska in some way other than the current one which would put the residents of Edna Bay and other small Southeast communities through extreme hardship during already difficult economic times.”

This morning, Jay and I managed to cram a few more things in the van and took off for Angelic Thrift Shop to donate the first batch of stuff to their church.
While we were there, I bought a color 12v. TV for $10. Jay bought an ornamental circular brass horn for 75c. Dollar Tree Store next, to exchange some reading glasses, and buy some bargains there.
After a quick trip into Walmart, and we were ready to come home.
This afternoon, I took one section of the hanging clothes off their hangers, and packed them neatly in boxes, ready for tomorrow's trip to the Assistance League.
No AC, or heat, required on this really lovely sunny day.

“As you may know, our island is unique in all of Alaska in that it the only one that consists entirely of a karst * topography. A large portion of the largest as-of-yet unmapped cave system in North America lies beneath the lands that Sealaska wishes to have on Kosciusko Island.
“Studies have shown that the underground aquifer, the same one that supplies the drinking water for the residents of Edna Bay, flows via tremendously long and winding limestone caves through an unmapped system. Contaminants from large-scale logging or other development activities in the disputed area could easily contaminate the drinking water supply of Edna Bay. It would be irresponsible to allow any development until thorough scientific studies of the Kosciusko Island aquifer had been conducted and development disallowed in all sensitive areas.“The State of Alaska created the modern community of Edna Bay by laying out the boundaries of our lots and our town in a far-flung island wilderness for the purpose of attracting hard working Americans to live in a community that would by necessity require the natural resources of the surrounding National Forest for their survival.
“To take those lands away from the stewardship of the American People, and especially the people of Edna Bay, to give it to a corporation that has no intention of improving the lives of Edna Bay residents – and seems to care not that we could be very adversely affected, would be to say that the profits of the Sealaska corporation are more important than the lives of the people of Edna Bay Alaska. There must be another way to both give Sealaska the compensation it is owed, and leave the Tongass National Forest on Kosciusko Island forever untouched by private development.

2 Safety Tips. Blown Away!
'New Password' E-mail Scam Plagues Facebook Members
If you get an e-mail with a subject line that reads, "Facebook password reset confirmation customer support," you can just go ahead and hit the delete button. That's because, if you open it, you may fall prey to the latest scam to hit Facebook, and divulge intensely personal password or banking information. The malicious e-mail bears an attachment that, the message claims, contains your new Facebook password. What it really contains, though, is a form of malware that can swipe not only your real Facebook password, but rather any username and password combination stored on your computer.
The careful reader will notice a few tell-tale signs of the e-mail's inauthenticity; Facebook never sends out e-mails like these, and even if it did, it wouldn't use the awkward grammar and lazy punctuation that are all over these messages. Clearly, though, enough people are falling for it to warrant concern. Considering that there are about 400 million users on Facebook."If you get 10-percent success, that's 40 million." So, just be careful about it, and don't let your computer be one of them.

Fire Safety Tip from Mac McCoy:
”After a long haul involving a steep grade, don't come to a stop and turn your engine off without allowing your vehicle time to cool down. Your transmission fuel temperature could be around 350 degrees, and your brakes will definitely be too hot to allow a quick stop. Turning your engine off too suddenly causes the temperature in your transmission to continue to rise.
With your engine off, your coolant is no longer bleeding the heat from your engine. Instead, allow for a five-minute cool-down period. A hot exhaust pipe from your engine or generator can also run hot enough to start a fire if you drive in high, dry weeds. “

”When you do something really stupid with your RV like bang it into a tree branch and make a hole, don't fret. Such misfortunes happen to all RVers sooner or later. Just get it fixed and get on with your life. It's no big deal. Stuff happens.”

It was really windy during the rain yesterday, so Ray and I kept on putting more boards to try to hold down the tarps on the yard sale tables.
All those table cloths are in the garage next to the washing machine, it is too cold in there to do laundry today.

This morning it was so cold and windy that Jay and I had trouble even trying to fold them up. Then things would blow all over and we would have to run to retrieve them. We were in layers of clothes, and still cold.
We packed the contents of the eight 7ft. tables that were out in the yard, into boxes. Mostly for one particular charity which has a thrift shop with lots of display area for knick knacks. It is open tomorrow, so the van is packed to the brim, and those eight tables are folded up and put away. Eight more tables in the RVport to go!
All those table cloths are in the garage next to the washing machine, it is too cold in there to do laundry today.
