Haiti, Straight From The Horse’s Mouth.

Our friend Phyllis’ daughter Carmen sent this.  Phyllis doesn’t have a journal so I am posting this for her:     Sent: 1/14/2010 7:08:01 A.M. Pacific Standard Time

“Good Morning, This is a forward from one of my friends at work, Claudia.  We have been trying to support her for several months because she has been so upset about her son, Peter, and his wife who sold everything to go on a mission trip to Haiti for 5-10 years - with their two grandsons! Besides the fact that she would miss them so much, she has been so worried about their safety. Anyway, they flew to Ft. Lauderdale the day before the earthquake, and were supposed to land in Haiti the day of the earthquake!

Here is a link to their blog http://ourordinaryjourney.blogspot.com/   - it's kind of interesting, but below Claudia's note I pasted an entry from Chris Rollings - he is in charge of the project that Peter and Sarah were/are involved in, and he's their contact person there. - It really makes the whole situation seem closer to home when you read first hand someone's experience.

Claudia thought this might deter them from wanting to go, but it actually makes them feel they are need in Haiti even more now! She kept praying for something to change their minds - but she didn't expect an earthquake!
Peter and his wife so much wanted to do this: http://cleanwaterforhaiti.org/   But were delayed from going because of the earthquake.
Below Claudia's note I pasted an entry from Chris Rollings - he is in charge of the project that Peter and Sarah were/are involved in, and he's their contact person there.”

Please read Chris Rollings’ account of that first day:  Earthquake Day in Port au Prince  It really shows one what it is like there, and the terrible decisions they have to make.

Claudia says:
“The facilities and people at Clean Water for Haiti are all safe, and unharmed; they sustained no damage as far as I know. They are about 30 miles north of Port-au-Prince. The staff there is heading into Port today to help out in whatever way they can.”
Love, Carmen

This is so sad for a country that needed an enormous amount of help before the quake, and now this.

We have so much to be grateful for, and here we are, going about our chores as if nothing earth shattering had happened today.
