Giant Sequoia National Monument In Danger.

Don't Let the Forest Service Log the Sequoia National Monument!
Sponsored by: The Rainforest Site

"The Giant Sequoia National Monument is one of the most majestic and awe-inspiring locations in the United States. Nestled at the southern end of California's stunning Sierra Nevada mountain range, the Sequoia Monument is home to the tallest trees on Earth — some close to 300 feet.

The Sequoia National Monument is naturally home to many animal species as well.
Despite all of its commanding beauty, the Sequoia Monument is in grave danger. The US Forest Service has revealed plans to log the forest, creating space for commercial and residential development."

Don't Let the Forest Service Log the Sequoia National Monument!

The proposed destruction of these giants is sacrilege!   Please sign the petition to save some of the oldest and tallest trees on earth for your grandchildren to see and enjoy:

Today:

Ray and I started later, so we didn't get a lot done.

We tried out a used little red shop vac on some spilled cat litter. It was a thrift shop find.  It worked so well that we got carried away and vacuumed all the grooming room, where the foster cats sleep.
Verdict: The vacuum is a keeper, so now I will get rid of the old one with the switch that doesn't work.

Ray painted a vent that used to go to a furnace that was in the cargo trailer, twice.
Even though he had cleaned it with denatured alcohol, the first time he painted it, there were bubbles coming up in the paint.  So we dropped it in a vat of paint thinner, and that got whatever it was off, so we could prime and paint it again.  We have made a backing plate for it, so it will not vent into the trailer now.  We thought that replacing it, instead of a patch would look better.

Family-pictures Then he painted a picture frame that I had bought at a Somerville garage sale when I was with my daughter.   It was only 50 cents as someone had spilled coffee (?) on it, and the paper mat was stained.

Michael's wanted $45 to make a new mat for it!

I needed it for a several small family pictures.  I traced the mat onto some construction paper, so we would have a template if we messed up the original.  Then we spay painted the mat.   It didn't mess up the mat, so here it is, all put together.

Even though it is colder than usual, and long sleeves are the 'garb du jour', it is a nice sunny day.

Thanks for the info on spray painting the mat. I have one to do that I bought at the flea market.

Thanks for you comment, Sandra.
We had a little spray Epoxy appliance paint that needed to be used up, so I don't know if that made it work.
I was scared to use anything wet, like watercolor paint.
I hope it works for you.

Thank you, Karen.
But, I couldn't do the lovely fiber artsy things that you do.
Good thing we are all not the same.
