Missouri Puppy Mills. We Are back!
"This is Legs, pictured at left, just before she and 91 other Yorkshire Terriers were rescued from a substandard puppy mill in southwest Missouri in February 2009 by the Humane Society of Missouri.
She was missing teeth, and had endured severe dental disease, skin infections, and bone and joint disease -- too much suffering for a Yorkie at only eight years of age.
And unbelievably, some of the dogs that were rescued with Legs even had to have limbs amputated because the blood supply to their legs was cut off by their terribly matted hair."

At puppy mills in Missouri, dogs are crammed into small and filthy cages, denied veterinary care, exposed to extremes of heat and cold, and given no exercise or human affection.
These puppy mills are cruel and the way these dogs are treated is wrong. Prop B will finally turn around Missouri's reputation as the puppy mill capital of America, and make a difference for hundreds of thousands of dogs in the nation's top puppy mill state."

On November 2, two important ballot propositions affecting animals will come up for a vote in Arizona and Missouri. If you live in either of these states, or know other people who do, please take action on these crucial campaigns:
Arizona: Vote "No" on Prop 109, a measure that would take away many protections for wildlife in the state.

Today:
We just got in from the long drive back from Somerville. I have pretty pictures of Somerville Lake and Birch Creek State Park to share with you, on another day. Too tired right now.
Bobcat, and the foster cats, were happy to see us home safe and sound, and the dogs, Paco and Misty, are glad to be back. After they had checked out their backyard, they went straight into their beds under my bed.
Everybody has been fed, but the dogs and I are tired, so I am going to call it a day.

Glad to hear you're back safely! I expect the kitties missed you.
Thank you for the information to your readers about Missouri puppy mills. We have had our 14 year old 3 lb. Chihuahua for about 3 years now. He was rescued from a Tennessee puppy mill that had 280 dogs and cats. We believe Buddy spent his entire life in a cage as a stud dog. He was a sad little fellow when we gave him his forever home - now he is spoiled rotten and sleeps under the covers with us every night. Our other Chihuahua, Annie, was rescued from a raid on a house with 50 dogs - no food, no water, no heat.
Glad you made it home safe and sound!

Glad you made it back with no problems. Looking forward to the pictures. I just feel sick every time I see a picture of a dog in a puppy mill. I hope some day this can be stopped completely. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your comments, Sandra, Karen, Pidge and margie and Roger.
I am often going on my soap box about puppy mills:

Even 'back-yard breeders' don't know what they are doing. I know one that was breeding Llasas with terrible hereditary defects and didn't even know it, or care!
It's all about the money.
I loved my dog, he was not motivated by money!
