Do You Want Metal Filings in That? Dead Flour. Lost Power. Exning.

How to get the iron out of ANY fortified breakfast cereal.

"Food and Drug Administration wanted to increase the amount of iron filings in flour to decrease the incidence of iron-deficiency anemia. Some physicians were already concerned by the over abundance of iron in flour. Luckily, it is unlikely any appreciable amount of the iron filings gets absorbed. Therapeutic Uses Iron-Deficiency Anemia: Iron deficiency is the most common cause of anemia worldwide. In children, the reason is usually due to an inadequate diet."

The Hidden Truth About Enriched White Flour
“To enrich something means to make it richer by adding good things to it. If you add some organic apple cider vinegar to your water, you’ve enriched it. Enriched white flour, then, has had lots and lots of good things added into it, so it’s good for you. Right?  WRONG!

Enriched Flour
The truth is, so many of the good things that were originally in it have been stripped out through refinement that they HAD to add a little something back in. Now here’s the really scary part. What they are adding back into your flour is actually toxic!

Iron is one of the “nutrients” added back into enriched flour, except that the type of iron that is added in is not really a nutrient at all, but is considered a metallic iron. Metallic iron is obviously not available for use by the body, and was never meant to be consumed in the first place.

Enriched flour is absorbed by the body not as wheat or a grain, in which case your body could use the energy slowly and effectively, but as a starch. That is because the wheat germ has been stripped from the flour; the FDA specifically states that enriched flour cannot have greater than 5 percent wheat germ.
Enriched Flour: How It Affects Your Health
Enriched White Bread
Okay, so this stuff has been stripped down and you’re left with a starch (that makes a nice paste when combined with water). How does your body react to pure starch? The same way it reacts to pure sugar! The consumption of enriched white flour or products containing enriched white flour causes your body to scream through the ride on a sugar high/low roller coaster.

The premier depleted food today is flour. The grains used to produce white, refined flour have literally had the vast majority of its nutrient value deliberately stripped out of it. However, the food industry does not waste these stripped nutrients. Wheat germ and other nutrients deliberately removed from grains are utilized in helping to produce many of the wide variety of supplements available to us today. If you find yourself becoming a bit upset that such grains do not simply remain unstripped, you are certainly not alone.

Enriched white flour also makes people fatter. White flour is really nothing more than refined carbohydrates. According to a study that was referenced by Natural News, Americans are eating enough extra calories (mostly through refined carbs) to add three pounds of body fat per month to their weight. Carbs should come from unrefined sources, like fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Not from something that’s been processed and bleached and then had trace amounts of synthetic nutrients added back in so that the “industry” can sleep at night.
Alternatives to Enriched White Flour
Whole Wheat
It’s difficult to live flour-free. So many of the foods that people cook and buy are made with flour of some type and it is hard for most people to go flour-free without switching to an all-produce diet or raw food diet.
Luckily there are alternatives to enriched white flour. Popular diets demand the removal of products containing enriched white flour and call for replacement with either nothing or with whole wheat based products. Pasta and bread are the foods that most commonly contain white flour, but pay attention to what you eat because even foods like breaded chicken nuggets contain enriched flour products.
List of Alternatives to Enriched White Flour:

Rye Flour
Oat Flour
Almond Meal
Almond Flour
Millet Flour
Quinoa Flour
Brown Rice Flour
Whole Wheat Flour
If you can find sprouted flours these are the best.. (Always buy organic of course)

You can also buy a lot of foods that are already made without white flour, typically they are labeled as “whole grain” foods. Eating organic sprouted whole grain pastas and breads are becoming easier and easier to obtain, as America wakes up to find itself overweight and undernourished. However, as I stated above, the best diet plan would contain little to no grains and more live fruits, seeds and vegetables.
Whole Grain Flour vs. White Enriched Flour
  • Whole grain foods are higher in fiber because the wheat germ and bran have not been processed out of them.
  • Whole grain foods are digested more slowly, so you feel fuller for a longer period of time and end up eating less.
  • Whole grain foods have more overall nutrients than “enriched” foods.
  • Whole grains are not processed as a starch, so they don’t throw your body into a sugar dependency cycle.
Banishing enriched white flour from your diet isn’t really all that hard, after all. If you’re interested in tracking your progress or challenging others, you should!
Start a 10 day no enriched white flour challenge group online-you might be surprised at the number of people who will participate!  And how better you will feel without white flour.
Better yet, share the challenge with your family and friends.”
Refined carbohydrates are to blame for skyrocketing chronic disease, not just obesity.
“Bad carbs, on the other hand, include all refined carbohydrates -- basically, anything that's been milled and stripped of its original, natural elements such as fiber, healthy oils, vitamins and minerals. All white flour is nutritionally deadly. Really.

White flour kills you. If you tried to live off of white flour for 60 days, you would literally die.

That's because white flour lacks all of the healthy elements found in the whole grain of the wheat berry. Whole wheat grains contain important minerals like magnesium, healthy oils like vitamin E, health-enhancing insoluble fiber, and a long list of important vitamins. Virtually all of these are stripped out during processing, leading to a product so nutritionally depleted that millers are required by federal law to add certain vitamins back in! That's the source of so-called "enriched white flour," which is actually, "enriched just enough to make sure it doesn't kill you too quickly with obvious nutritional deficiencies."

In other words, they take out 100 vitamins and minerals, then add three or four back in. That way, most people don't notice the white flour is actually killing them by promoting chronic disease and illness. That's why white flour earns one of the top positions on my list of metabolic disruptors -- food ingredients known to interfere with the normal healthy physiology of the human body.”

__________

Yesterday:

We didn’t get any more rain after the little drizzle in the morning, but there must have been some trouble somewhere.  In the afternoon, after an electricity outage, my desktop wouldn’t power up at all.  Laptop to the rescue.

Jay and I spent the morning fiddling with the Haier dishwasher that I have for sale.  It was the first little countertop dishwasher that we built in to my kitchen, when I took the big regular size one out.   Then I found the Danby, which I like much better, so the Haier has been for sale all this time.  For the first time, there was someone coming to see it at 4.00PM.

As we had hard-plumbed the Danby, we had the portable dishwasher hook-up left over.  We tried so hard to put it on the Haier, even a trip to the hardware store, but nobody had connections with the right threads.  The hook-up that came with the Haier was old timey, not very convenient, as it didn’t have that little water button on it, so you couldn't get water out of the faucet while the dishwasher is connected.  We finally had to put the old timey one back on.

Jay and I hooked it to the workshop sink, and tested it. The gentleman came, tried it out, liked it and bought it, so that’s one more thing out of the way.

St. Mary's, Exning.

He was an interesting person, and I found out that he visits Newmarket, Suffolk, England, http://www.newmarket-guide.co.uk/ every couple of years, as his grandparents live there.

What was even more astounding, was that he had been to Exning, a tiny village 3 miles outside Newmarket, where I lived for several years,  as he has relatives there.

The White Horse Pub, Exning.

My house in Exning was about 15 miles from the US Air Force base Lakenheath where I worked for three years before I immigrated here.

Suddenly, after about three hours the desktop computer powered up. So I was able to work on it, while 'talking' on http://www.rv-dreams.com/chatroom.html chat on the laptop.

The weather has had a slight change, with less humidity first thing in the mornings, so I am able to open the doors and windows to air out the house.  But just for a couple of hours, then it gets humid again, then I have to close up the house, and turn the AC back on.   This is something new for the kittens, as they can enjoy some 'porch time', and watch the birds at the feeder.

That always makes a good start for the day.

It is a small world. If you do a lot of traveling, you always seem to run into someone who lives within a mile or so of your home of have been there visiting.

I have a flour mill and I make all of the bread we eat but I be darned if I know how to use only the flour that I mill. I tried that and the bread tastes horrible and looks even worse so I only use about 2 cups of wheat kernels ground and the rest unbleached white flour. I would love to find out how the commercial bakeries are able to make 100% whole wheat bread??? Anybody know??? Please inform me.

Thank you for your comments, Dick, Wizz and Vera.

Vera, I don't make bread myself, and don't even eat much of it, so I am not up on that, but this person seems to know what they are doing:

I hope this helps.
