She gives new meaning to the phrase:
I don't know about you, but I went "Golly", somewhere between Eisenhower and Truman.
After looking at this, I am shocked at how long I've been around, too...
As I remember her wedding to Prince Phillip, before the coronation.

Elizabeth and Philip were married on November 20th 1947 in Westminster Abbey.
"Queen Elizabeth II met her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece, as a 13 year old in 1939. Throughout her teens, she stayed devoted to Philip. Prince Philip proposed to Elizabeth in 1946. Reportedly, the two were taking a walk on a sunny summer day at Balmoral when Philip popped the question. Elizabeth was quoted as later saying
“It was wonderful, magical. I just threw my arms round his neck and kissed him as he held me to him, my feet off the ground.”

I am not in awe of the royalty, they put their pants on one leg at a time, too.
I am just showing this bit of history to show how much has gone on in all these years that we, the older ones, can remember.

It was chilly, by our standards anyway, but Jay and I made a quick trip into the next town, today.

She is the only monarch I have known. The coronation was a few months before I was born.
JB I was 5 when she became the Queen, but I certainly do not remember it. But the guy that's really getting the short end of the family's long lived women is Prince Charles. It is highly possible that he will die before his mother!!!!
Penny what's your opinion?
Rumour had it that Prince William was being groomed for the position of King. But then that was denied.
But it makes sense that with an aging Prince of Wales there needs to someone else ready to take on the duties of King.
Here are a few articles, enough for another days post!!

"At 27, the dashing young Prince is increasingly seen as the future of the Royal Family. By comparison the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall lag behind the telegenic second in line to the throne in opinion polls.
While there is no truth in the suggestion Prince William will succeed the Queen, is there nevertheless some merit in skipping a generation? If the Queen goes on for at least another 10 years, the Prince of Wales will be over 70 when he comes to the throne. Is there not then a danger that he will look too grey, too familiar, and too tired to energize his subjects."
"Fueling speculation that Prince William will leapfrog his father to the British throne, a leaked confidential document reveals Wills is being groomed as a "shadow king" by Queen Elizabeth.
The 27-year-old prince is expected to take on many of his grandmother's public duties next year to ease the burden on her and her husband, Prince Philip.
Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper obtained a secret treasury document revealing that William, the oldest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, will be taking on more royal responsibilities in the coming year.
The prince is expected to represent his 83-year-old grandmother on a trip to New Zealand and Australia next month, and at the soccer World Cup in South Africa later next year.
The leaked document details a new financial arrangement for Charles to deduct his sons' official expenses from his tax return.
The queen has an average of 400 official engagements a year. In February, she had to cancel a state visit to the Middle East because she was too busy.
Buckingham Palace officials denied the Mail's report, insisting that Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, are focused on their military careers.
Despite the palace's denials, the leaked document is prompting new speculation that Prince Charles will be skipped over for the crown when his mother dies."

The 84 year old Queen apparently is going to one or more functions a day, or 400 a year. (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926). So I think it is time she got some help. Don't you?
