AHDD & Meds. "Empty Phone Calls".

Another hot one, so I couldn't leave the house to air out for very long this morning.

Jay was going to be staying home with his mother today, as they had some social worker coming to see her. You wonder why we put up with his addictive and sometimes obnoxious behaviour. It isn't really his fault. Jay was prescribed Ritalin , PLUS uppers and downers when he was less than 2 years old. He spent most of his school years as a zombie, and it definitely damaged his brain, and hindered his learning abilities. The doctors told Claudia not to take him off the meds. She eventually did, and I guess his body had got so used to being drugged, that he has been taking whatever he can lay his hands on ever since. He is now 50 years old.

My 40 year old son was diagnosed hyperactive when he was two, and the doctors wanted to put him on Ritalin, but his father threatened to kill me if I did. He was on it for three weeks, at age 11, after his father died, and that was the best three weeks that the School District and I ever had. Then he refused to take 'those vitamins' any more, said they slowed him down. He cannot stand any kind of drugs, even prescribed, and won't take them. His attention span is still weird, and like Jay, once he gets an idea, he harps on it continually, like a stuck record player. I know they have new thoughts about remedies and causes for AHDD since Jay and my son were small, but I really feel for anyone who has to cope with this affliction.

Ray and I tried out some new silver patching compound for the aluminum on the Coronado. There are places where they had screwed hasps onto the doors, I do have keys now, so we got the ugly hasps off, but have to patch the holes.

Then we turned out attention to the Mirage. We added the last two nuts and bolts to the new window. We had let it settle overnight, hoping that it would 'set' into it's new conformation, so that the last two bolts could be installed without it cracking in that vulnerable place. We didn't have any trouble, thank goodness, so Ray trimmed the excess butyl putty tape off around the edge, and caulked all around the window with Dicor. While it had been parked outside, tree sap or honeydew had appeared on the hood. We tried several things to get it off, and rubbing alcohol seemed to work the best. Then we applied a paste of Baking Soda to those spots to neutralize any residue, and hosed it off. We found a little rust spot, sanded it, and applied Rust Converter which has to sit for 24 hours.

Just like the last couple of weeks or more, the AC compressor has hardly stopped all day.
